Will Byers had always been a bit of a mystery - once a joyful boy who always carried a cheery smile on his face, now reserved and quick to snap. He was now angry and unapologetic, and most steered clear of him. Everything seemed to have changed.

Everything except Will's love of art.

Mike Wheeler, on the other hand, was awkward and nervous - though it didn't look that way on the surface. He had a decent amount of friends, and his confidence wasn't completely lacking or lost. Mike seemed normal. Well, almost.

There were two small details that always isolated him when it came to fitting in. One was his undying interest in Will Byers. And the other was his 'unnatural' sexuality.

But, for now, Mike would just say that his grades were slipping, and never explain why.
