In the floating city of Onavale, the relatives of the original Obsidian Order called the Gems; Garnet, Amethyst, Emerald, Pearl, Sapphire, Topaz, and Onyx had all the power. They were viewed like gods, living in the most expansive homes with infinite food and resources.

Meanwhile, the humans lived in scraps, never seeing a rich life or even a clean sky. Everything was chaotic and dangerous, a constant game of survival. Annie grew up this way; confident, intelligent and witty. But, like most, she grew to hate the Gems.

When Annie turns eighteen, she gets promoted to a promising job in Onavale, having to work as a slave for 20-year-old Kim Taehyung---the relative of Garnet. She thought he was the most irritating soul to exist, with his arrogant yet cold behaviour, and ethereal beauty. It all annoyed her.

Things only become more complicated when Annie's job involves more than she expected, and feelings begin to reveal themselves in the most unlikely of places.
