The country of Aziaa is fighting a war against Ireban to keep their freedom. Commander Kazdeya Serinn and a group of soldiers have been sent to a small fort in the middle of nowhere. For the first two months, nothing really happened. They fight a few battles, survive a cave-in, and recruit a former Ireban soldier.

Yeah, that's right. An Ireban soldier. Don't worry though, Ashe Amiterre is more than loyal to her new Aziaaian comrades. All she wants is to forget her past life in Ireban, and maybe figure out why Commander Serinn doesn't talk to her.

At first Kazdeya (She prefers Kaz) thinks her problem with Ashe is trust. Which would have been completely logical and something she could fix. Well, turns out, that's not her problem. She trusts Ashe completely. Maybe even a little too much. However, Kaz still can't shake the strange dreams she's been having. Dreams of being stabbed by Ashe.

Meanwhile, tensions between Ashe and Kaz aren't the only thing growing. Every day, the main fighting draws nearer and nearer to their remote little fort. If everyone doesn't get their game together soon, there are going to be consequences.

Book 1 of The Shadow Series. Myths, that's what the humans called it, but for Ashe it quickly became her reality. Her life changing transformation narrowed her paths down to two; She could either embrace her fates and save the people she's grown to love, or she can walk away and live a somewhat normal life while others suffer the consequences. How far is she willing to go to create peace where there's never been any? Will she even create peace? Or will she help encourage the most brutal war the Shadow Realms have ever experienced? Several years of Asheland's childhood had disappeared from her memory. She assumed it was her brain trying to protect her from a traumatic event, although that's true it's not exactly what she expected and her brain wasn't necessarily the cause. After being homeless until she was sixteen years old, then living in a boat dock for four years, she had finally found her home in a cottage in the near-by mountains of Wolf Creek. Everything seemed to be going well. However, as a list of secrets begin unraveling when Ashe gives in to her overwhelming urges to visit the island that terrified almost every citizen in Wolf Creek, her life becomes more complicated than she could've ever imagined. All of this just because she was turning twenty-one. Nothing was as it had ever seemed. * excerpt from the book * { "Why do you make such reckless, impulsive decisions?" The old man asked as we watched the moon. "The world could end tomorrow and everyone expects me to live in fear today? There's no life to live inside the box of fear, there's no freedom in there," I replied softly. }
