Venom (Book I) ✓
Ruby is a strange girl being raised in a village in which she doesn't belong. Her past is a series of shadowy outlines, the memory of a red cloak and a panicked dash through the forest that the people who raise her called forbidden. Only by a stroke of luck and a small, courageous boy does she survive the dash. Now, ten years later, that same boy is a powerful man, attacked and mauled by a terrible beast with intelligent eyes. Horrified and driven by the desire to repay her debt, she begins on a journey back to the place she was found in an effort to find the creature whose venom is now slowly killing the boy she thinks she may love. The hunt takes her deep into the forbidden forest and back to a place that seems all too familiar. Accompanied by a dark and charming young man who can't seem to learn her name, she begins to remember all of the things that she never even knew she had forgotten. Now plagued by her dark past and knowing that her time is running out, she must struggle to find the monstrous and elusive creature responsible for the dying man back home before he's consumed by the venom in his blood. **Many thanks to my darling DanaNicoleBeke for the lovely new cover!!Complete

! NO LONGER WRITING THIS VERSION OF THE STORY - PLEASE GO TO MY PROFILE AND SEE MY BOOK 'The Monster's Stratagem' FOR THE 2.0 VERSION ! * * * Highest Ranking: #8 in Adventure 19/11/17 Added to Wattpad's official adventure page reading list 'Fantastical Adventures' 05/12/17 * * * In the distant future of 3274, monsters rule the Earth. No one knows why or how they came onto the blue planet but that doesn't really matter anymore. One by one the humans started to disappear and were replaced by monsters until all that was left of them were their cities and knowledge. Legend has it that human survivors still exist and are living in the depths of a forest, right on the doorstep of the capital monster kingdom, Zyire. Protected and concealed by a magical border that burns monsters if they attempt to enter, the humans wait patiently for the right opportunity to strike and take back what once was theirs. 18 year-old human survivor Dawn lives within the borders of the forest, or as the humans call it, the Base. In the Base, the humans are separated into three groups; the Service, the Watchers and the Venturers. It is the Service's job to cook, what little food they have, and to heal the injured and sick. It is the Watcher's job to hide in the trees and scan the clearing, that lies before the forest's border, for monsters on the Venture days. It is the Venturers job to leave the forest borders on Venture days, and run into desolate cities to steal food, bedding and supplies that they need to survive. There is only one rule; never get caught. Venturer Dawn finds herself in a dangerous situation when she breaks the one rule. Dawn is caught by a monster, and not just any monster, but a monster who works as a Protector for their kind. Dawn soon learns that there are more to monsters than meets the eye. © 2016 by Heather DarteComplete

Steady Ground | ✔
He's damaged. He's lost. And worse of all, his memories have come to life. If he wants to find peace, he'll need to redefine what it really means to move on. -- For the first time in years, Atlas feels like he's separated himself from the misfortune in his life. He's healed, he's rented a decent apartment, he's settled into a solid-enough-for-him job working as a grunt for some scientists. Now he's (reluctantly) traveling to the spring snows of Alaska, where they plan to test the first run of their earthquake-harnessing technology. But something goes wrong. They don't harness the energy of an earthquake. No. Instead, the ground rips apart. A massive crevice forms, leading deep into the Earth. The chasm lulls him forward like a Siren, telling him tales of his mother, of her laughter, of her scent of strong sandalwood, and of his life before her death. Waking up in what he can only describe as Hell, he's confronted with every misfortune in his life. Forced to befriend mirages made from his most painful childhood memories or pay severe consequences, he travels the twisted realm in search of answers.
