Once upon a time, in the sea of stars, a royal painter and a knight commander lived alongside the king and queen of a kingdom. Though with their own problems, the family was joyful and always faced every day with a smile. The queen with her garden and the king with his stories. They were a happy family, and as they're destined, they lived a happily ever after... ...right? With red paint drenching the floor, the royal painter's question remained unanswered, even by a single sea daffodil that stood to observe what was left of their story. *** Originally written for LOVECOMP2022 Short Story Writing Competition hosted by the English Society of the University of Lampung with the theme 'Reaching Reality through Fantasy' and one of the genres required to be used is dystopia. "We don't get to choose our time. Death is what gives life meaning. To know your days are numbered, your time is short." - The Ancient One Ben had been happy once upon a time. But that was a long time ago. That was before his world was torn from his claws, leaving behind a broken, angry shell. Now a mercenary, he only seeks to endure the rest of his days trying to forget his misery. But that all changes when a client charges him with looking after a young girl. - I wrote this a few years ago, thought I'd give it a whirl online. It's pretty short, not quite novel worthy, but enough to get the job done, I think. And yes, this is basically The Last of Us, but with wolves (mostly different, but the plot is very similar). If I ever write a sequel, I can assure you it will be nothing like the actual sequel.
