"Well, you don't seem to be serving food either." She snapped back at him, trying to deflect the situation.
He smiled at her before laughing and saying, "Yeah, I guess I'm not."
They looked at each other, their expressions softening as they made a mutual agreement. They both weren't meant to be there, but so what? She wasn't going to tell on him, and he wasn't going to tell on her, so it was all okay. They could trust each other, at least a little bit. She hoped.
