On the desert world of Stuk's Hollow, there is something quite amiss.

A siren call has brought the weak minded out to the Wailing Seas desert to dig out something ancient and cruel.

The warning signs are there but the Houses on the Hollow are deaf, dumb and blind after thirty years of peace and neglect. Their memories of the last House War are just that and they wish to keep it that way even if it means surrendering.

Eighteen-year-old, salvage operator Melinda Scott is on a job in the New Welles Asteroid Belt when she finds a puzzle piece of intrigue in the form a slumbering Necromancer by the name of Spence MacGregor but before the two can figure out what's going on they're dragged down onto the Hollow.

Thrown into a word of magical Houses to the left and techno Houses to the right, the two along with a ragtag group of misfits led by a fallen leader must re-assemble the puzzle pieces before the Hollow is suffocated in screams and drowned in blood.

City of Threads

12 parts Complete

Adrian Strand awakens in his own coffin. Robbed of his right arm, his memories and his purpose, he claws his way up through the gravedirt and gazes out at a city he once failed to save... but he is not alive of his own volition. James Acker tends the graves and thinks about murder. Not his own, but the case he failed, years ago. He sees a man rise from the dead... and his day gets a lot more interesting. Kimber Ross sits at her desk, staring at the map in her hands. This delicate filigree parchment, a work of love, gives her a beautiful, twinkling view of all the life in the city... until one light goes out forever. An amnesiac. A grave keeper. A scholar. A grieving husband. A Governess. Five people, five stories, all with one terrible connection. In thirty seconds, the most important man in the city will die. Their stories will shape the fate of this great city--or damn it forever. [A twelve-chapter novella, City of Threads was my Fall 2025 entry to the Writers of the Future novella competition. Winner of an honourable mention among over 3000 applicants!]
