Everyone hates summer projects, especially when it deals with reading books and writing reports for them. But this time the English project is a little different then most. Having to spend time with the partner to get to know them for a report, what happens when Jessica Holmes gets stuck with Dylan Jacks, who happens to be childhood friend who ditch? Having to write stories, not everyone's is a happy ending.

The Summer of Absolutely Nothing
It's summer - the end of my first year of college. And I am home again, more than a little worse for the wear. College hadn't gone how I had expected it to go. After two years of the grind to get in, I thought I would find the kind of magic I saw in American high school movies, which I had been denied of in school - late nights, parties, wild adventures with whacky best friends, romance.... everything one is told is supposed to happen in one's teenage years. After two years of watching my classmates grow up and enter this world, I thought it was my turn, now. I thought my college life would be like a coming-of-age movie. But in reality? It wouldn't make a good story, of any kind - not even a sad one. The only thing I found were shiftless friends, stifling academic pressure and heartbreak. So now I was home - a little bruised, a little broken. A few dreams in shards around my feet. Turns out, I needn't have worried. The summer that followed changed my life. His conscience
Anybody Jordan loves gets hurt. He believes he is a curse to everyone he meets and that's why he pushes himself away from anyone who tries to get close to him. He isolates himself, becomes a loner and tries so hard to please everyone around him. Especially his parents who might never forgive him for causing his sister's death. He has to keep playing basketball. He's so good at it. He's now well known around the country and scouts are keeping their eyes on him. He's kind of a celebrity now and his parents are loving him more than they ever did. He's relieved. He's doing something right for once. But he doesn't want to play basketball. He wants to take pictures. The beauty of the world draws him in more than anything else has. He wants to capture this beauty through the lens of a camera. This is what he wants to do with his life. Unfortunately, he doesn't dare to think that way. Until he meets Star. A brave, charming, sarcastic, music obsessed girl who steals his heart at first glance. He doesn't want to get close to people but why is he letting his guard down for her? Is he making a big mistake by letting her into his heart, into his life? Only a few minutes with her and he decides that it's a risk he's willing to take.

Being the new girl, officially sucks. Being the new Goth girl, wholeheartedly sucks. Being the new Goth girl, with horrific baggage, truly sucks. At my old school, I was thought of as 'cool and quirky'. Here, I'm just the weird new girl - the weird new girl whose parents are divorcing. I get stared at. Whispered about. Socially ostracised. I just know that my entire school life is now going to be an endless bout of loneliness and humiliation. Only, it would seem that Chas Summers doesn't think so.
