❖ 17-year-old Cyrus DeBarge, a young black man trying to make it outta the hood. He passes all of his classes and in his free time, he writes lyrics and turns them into a song (rap song) but he doesn't publish them because he feels like they are not good enough. His music is a way for him to let go, Truth being his rap name he thinks it fits the idea why he raps, to express true his thoughts and feelings. Cyrus has a "job" though it's not the ideal one, it gets him enough money to put food on the table for his family and himself. While reading, you will learn more about his life, raps, and love life.

It's what he promised his father and himself, even if it means he has to pretend to care for her. All he cares is his family business. At least it's what he tells himself, until the feelings start getting too mixed and he ends up thinking of her more than he should. Maybe it's not all about business after all.
