Walter Darwin is obsessed with a girl from his high school after her unsuspected death. Even before then, she was beautiful to him although he never was able to speak to her. After all, it all ends with love and life still carrying on, but without the girl of his fantasies, Walter feels empty.
He writes letters to her and leaves them to bubble up in the rain, leaving them at the sight of her grave by the city park. Knowing, she'll never open them, he keeps the words to himself.
He eats her photograph out of the yearbook, one day, hoping that it will bring her closer to him. A ghost of Molly Hoyt appears to him, and Walker makes love to her. Unsuspectingly, the two of them have a child during the darkest days of Walter's life.
He fights through hallucinations of voices mocking him and his life's journey. He knows for sure Molly Hoyt was brought back from the dead with his very own willpower, and he knows that his baby daughter must go on living her life, as well. Surely, he must stick around, too, for the sake of the two of them. He can't stop the racing thoughts of being a father with the girl that he brought back to life.
Grief-stricken over the death of the boss who was like a father to her, Olivia Bailey is left to deal with the aftermath--the arrival of his dashing but estranged son, Pierce Alexander. But she can't stand him and he doesn't trust her. Will working for the new CEO remain to be an impossible task?
