Not many are familiar with the rape of the Sabine's. If you are not then here is a quick summary; After Romulus killed his brother Remus and created the city of Rome he invited many people. He did not care if they were free men or escaped slaves, all were welcome. However he had a problem, the majority that were coming were men. Well how do you populate a city with barely any women? Simple, steal them. Romulus invited the people of the neighboring city Sabine to a festival. He later on gave a signal and the Roman men began killing the Sabine men. After they were dead they kept the Sabine women and made them wives of the men living in Rome.
