The few Wicce who survived the Sundering had long since been hunted nearly to extinction by the mortals for which they had sacrificed so much to protect. Labeled "witches," "devils," and "villains" by small minded creatures who feared their powers. Now, Auryleigh is the last of the Wicce to walk the world of Gaia Tn'Teppa. A world where magic is rare but alive. Where Humans and Ota'Kin war with themselves and one another. Where mythic beasts have been culled off or pushed to the verymost desolate edges of the world. A world where an ancient darkness stirs restlessly, waiting for the day of its release. Auryleigh's only goal in life is to keep this darkness caged. She was born for this sacred duty, and despite despising the humans and Ota'Kin she had devoted three hundred years of her life to this task. Corvin is a rogue Shifter building his own pack one warrior at a time. In the dog-eat-dog world of the Ota'Kin, he had seen his lands, his people, and his title stripped from him long ago. Rogues were not allowed to form packs, it is an act of rebellion against all of the ranking Ota'Kin. But rebellion is exactly what Corvin dreams of, until a chance meeting with a real life walking talking Goddess makes him realize that there are worse threats in the world than the Over Rulers of the Ota'kin. Will they somehow be able to band together to defeat the Darkness and save all of creation on Gia Tn'Teppa? Or will the dawning of the new age spell the undoing of their world as they know it? 《Author's Note》 ☆Working as of 5.17.23 ☆Chapters marked with ● are updated, editing is a never ending process however so please feel free to comment if something doesn't make sense or needs fixed. ☆ I'm editing while adding to this after taking some time away from this story. Book 1 of The Shadow Series. Myths, that's what the humans called it, but for Ashe it quickly became her reality. Her life changing transformation narrowed her paths down to two; She could either embrace her fates and save the people she's grown to love, or she can walk away and live a somewhat normal life while others suffer the consequences. How far is she willing to go to create peace where there's never been any? Will she even create peace? Or will she help encourage the most brutal war the Shadow Realms have ever experienced? Several years of Asheland's childhood had disappeared from her memory. She assumed it was her brain trying to protect her from a traumatic event, although that's true it's not exactly what she expected and her brain wasn't necessarily the cause. After being homeless until she was sixteen years old, then living in a boat dock for four years, she had finally found her home in a cottage in the near-by mountains of Wolf Creek. Everything seemed to be going well. However, as a list of secrets begin unraveling when Ashe gives in to her overwhelming urges to visit the island that terrified almost every citizen in Wolf Creek, her life becomes more complicated than she could've ever imagined. All of this just because she was turning twenty-one. Nothing was as it had ever seemed. * excerpt from the book * { "Why do you make such reckless, impulsive decisions?" The old man asked as we watched the moon. "The world could end tomorrow and everyone expects me to live in fear today? There's no life to live inside the box of fear, there's no freedom in there," I replied softly. }
