Kinda based on La llorona ;)
Umm, if u don't know la llorona is abt a woman whos husband cheats so in a fit of rage she drowns her kids, realizes what she did then drowns herself. And then her spirit wanders around rivers, screams n crys for her kids and then basically drowns other kids while looking for hers. So the myth is that she goes to families living near rivers and drowns there kids n shit.
Soooo, yeah.
