Ghost's point of view, he tells a true story of a man he knew, before this man was a soldier and the infamous FNG, Johnny MacTavish was a young lean and built teenager, and in love. Johnny's life was fun and simple. Great family, a nitwit cousin, wacky friends and a popular record at school. His days consist of crushing hard on the football team. Evenings were alcohol and sneaking off with friends, camping in the Scotland Highlands with the acres of fields and ancient castles. Every weekend, all summer and Christmas, Johnny visits his cousin Kevin MacTavish, who serves in the 23 Regiment Special Air Service. All the logic he learned about war and what it's like to be in the military drove MacTavish to try and enroll. No matter how many times he tries, Johnny fails every attempt because he lies about his age. Giving up, his focus trails back to football. Life was good nonetheless, but Johnny's heart stops; his breathing goes shaky and the world freezes when Arabelle Lithgow; a free-spirited girl with a stubborn attitude crosses his path. Being the daughter of deceased Sergeant Lithgow of the 23 Regiment; her knack was a bow, thousands of arrows and immaculate combat skills. Hunting was Arabelle's specialty. Nothing mattered when Johnny first encountered Lithgow, his love and drive to be close to her allowed his athletic talent to push harder in football, becoming the captain. Military was a thing of the past because MacTavish wanted to spend the rest of his life by Arabelle's side, starting a life and growing old. A terrible secret and troubling news that ties between Arabelle and the 23 Regiment puts their love on a weak tightrope. With time running out, Johnny faces the heartbreaking truth that if you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they're yours; if they don't, they never were. An emotional, captivating and heartwarming story! The prequel to Modern Warfare taking place a few years before Johnny ever joined the military!
