In the kingdom of Legethiel, the kingdom does not have to go to the oldest prince. In tradition, that is what happens, but when King Stuart passes his kingdom to the younger of his two sons, James, everything changes.
His entire life Prince Nathaniel has been all but promised the throne. At age 17 when his father dies he expects to be crowned king, but his father's will names his younger brother, James, as heir to the throne. Bitter and filled with resentment, Nathaniel vows to do everything within his power to regain the throne that is rightfully his as eldest son to the king.
But will he be able to kill his brother, his best friend, just to be king?

We all make promises. We all say that we'll keep those promises going for eternity. But, they never actually last that long. Being royal doesn't mean they're immune to the outside world. They have feelings just like anyone else. They have deaths and they have issues they need to deal with. Princess Abigail isn't any different. She lost her mum young, she feels pressured by the public to be the epitome of perfect. Her boyfriend, Klein, is trying to help her but she feels like he's adding to her pressure. And often she feels like there's no way out. When she was younger, she had an accident that's led her to live the way she does. She hates things the way they are.
