Optimus was a very lonely mech as he had been betrayed by his ex girlfriend; Elita one and since then he shut his emotions away and he only allowed his closest friends in. Despite his newfound independence, Optimus still felt an emptiness in his spark. He had been hurt deeply and he was unable to trust anyone with his emotions. He had learned to rely only on himself and to never let his guard down. In order to protect himself, Optimus had built a wall around his heart, so he could never be hurt again. They met and became close to each other and something blooms within the two of them. As they got to know each other better, their friendship grew deeper. They opened up to each other and confided in each other about their lives and their dreams.
