You (the reader) are tasked to find and retrieve Lesser Lord Kusanli, from the clutches of the Sadges at the Academia. A plan is in place, and it leads you to find her... And the Balladeer... In a hand to mech combat fight against one that is becoming a god, you come out with a win. But while the Balladeer is in a weak state, you are put to the test.

After all he's put you through, you feel the need to kill him, but Nahida has other plans. While in rehabilitation, Scaramouche becames a new person, or so Nahida thinks. Although he seems to have mostly good intentions, you still feel like there is something off about him.

But since Nahida wishes for you and him to grow closer, you set aside any negative feelings towards him. But eventually you find yourself falling for him, his mean demeanor, his weird way of talking about things, and his fascination with the other worlds.

He seems to grow rather close to you as well. But when given the choice to rejoin the Fatiue, and taking one of the higher ranks as a Harbinger, Scaramouche is forced to make a difficult decision. Between getting revenge on those who wronged him, or staying in Sumeru to continue studying with Nahida.

A relationship is forming at the roots of Sumeru (or should I say, tree tops?), and I bet you can't wait to dive in a enjoy a twisty story, with romance. Death... And even, betrayal! Will Scaramouche really give up everything good, just to get revenge, or will he sacrifice his evil ways to make you happy?
