Silver decided to stay in the present after the event of Sonic 06. 
As the holidays were coming up Sonic was so kind to invite Silver over as well, but he isn't that known with the celebration and other things which seem quite normal to us. 
It makes Silver uncomfortable now and again as he gets the feeling he is to naive or not fulling accepted because of what happened when he came to the present for the first time.
But luckily Shadow is also at the party which...
