Even doing it in his head was a chore, but he'd put it like this. They were on a school field trip, himself and fourteen other students from his classroom, controlled and led by some strange "magical" rabbit, which was soon altered in the most mortifying way by a mechanical bear to make it a killing school field trip; that itself would be enough to strike overwhelming fear and concern, but the first late night at the island really just splotched the ranch dressing to the bitter cake.

Although he's with kids from school and would most likely get along with them...he feels a strange awkwardness when around them. There's a catch though, Hajime isn't really like the others; he doesn't have an ultimate. Because of that, he thinks the others might look down on him. But there is one student that looks down on him the most, Nagito Komaeda: the ultimate lucky student. He believes since Hajime doesn't have a talent, he's not valid like everyone else and decides to put him down for something he can't control.
