"I've tried telling them I'm only fifteen. That no sane government would force a boy my age to fight crime. 'But Max, you're a superhero! Isn't this what you want?' Actually, no. I just kind of want to get through high school. Then we'll talk about this 'superhero' business." Max Owens is your average high school sophomore. Well, he tries to be, at least. At fifteen, he's got more important things to do than fight the infamous Vinicus Cauldwell. With his single mother having recently lost her job, Max is determined to help his family get back up on its feet. The publicity and pressure that comes with being a superhero would be too much to handle right now. But it's hard to fly under the radar, when you can literally fly. Meanwhile, Vinicus Cauldwell enjoys the power he has as Murkbourne's most feared super-villain. For once, he can sit back and relax without being pestered by the police. That is, until Max arrives. Vinicus isn't happy about having to fight a child, but he can't let Max find out. After all, super-villains can't be "good people"... Can they? We can't all be born heroes. In the not-so-distant future evolved humans emerged. Those who had powers that broke conventional laws of physics, chemistry, and biology were dubbed E.H.s (evolved humans); it was wondrous for a time. Of course if there was power to be used there would be those who misuse. To that end the evolved humans police department was formed to deal with all crime committed by or connected to E.H.s, a force entirely comprised of E.H.s trained to stop and capture any E.H. breaking the law. Adlet Blacksteel is the newest edition to the E.H.P.D., his skills and experience as a hostage extractor makes him an invaluable edition. Joined by his new partner, Jenna Jones, he pursues a secretive manhunt for the Soldiers Of The New World, an underground E.H. crime organization that has a hand in all that is illegal, and their mysterious leader: String, who, seemingly, has eyes and ears everywhere. While Adlet and Jenna intend on doing this by the books, their unsavory past with two of String's captains may muddy their judgement, or, more accurately, it already has. As String's ambitions grow beyond just controlling the city's underbelly Adlet and Jenna are forced to take action with an ally he did not desire. While prejudice against E.H.s reaches it's peak because of a horrific tragedy, the Soldiers of the New World waste no time to expand their reach and rally for their cause of taking over the city. Adlet goes to the edge of sacrificing everything and back again. On the way, betrayal awaits at every corner. **Completed** Hi! Cubed here. This book is a vigilante TommyInnit story. It is Tommy centric, though it will include other members of the dsmp. I really liked the stories about heroes, villains and vigilantes of the dsmp, although this does not take place on the smp. There will be no smut or relationships although there will be crushes mentioned. This is my first book that I have posted, so feel free to comment if I forget to put a trigger warning, recap, etc. This story will be quite long, I will do my best to post often, and I don't plan on abandoning the book without giving my plans at the end. The fifteen year old happens to be incredibly smart at reading people and figuring them out and sometimes even their intentions. As he walks, jumps, and sprints into, out of, and through situations of the rest of his teenage years. He also is a vigilante called Devil, and everyone knows the simple phrase, Playing devil's advocate. And that is exactly what he does. ... Raised up to be an Assassin where he has a best friend whom later on caused a lot trouble. Through kindness he later on found the love and some peace. Things change drastically when he's friend returned and the love of his life been kidnapped. His friend makes a wrong choice into resurrecting something he shouldn't have.
