In the Ascendant Peacekeeping Guild of Ethèria, where oases float above the wasted earth, the only problems are the ones sparked by the brutish Deadlanders below. So every Ascendant, once proven worthy, is Blessed by the immortal Guild Father with a supernatural ability that helps them quell the Deadlanders' disputes, divide resources fairly, and stop wars - all without being seen. Ethèria itself is a paradise.

Not for seventeen-year-old Quinlan Petrix, a traitor's son. Born and raised in the Ascendant Guild and yet to receive a Blessing, Quinlan blames his mother's betrayal of the Guild ten years ago. When he's assigned an undercover mission to the Deadlands because he blends in with the Deadlanders, he's pissed but determined to undo the damage his mother has done. He joins the Guild's best Silencer - assassin is such an unpleasant word - on a trip below the clouds where a rebel organization against the Guild leader has taken root. If he can nip the rebellion in the bud and restore order, maybe he'll be granted the Blessing he's always wanted, along with a true place in the Guild.

But it turns out that the Deadlanders aren't brutes at all, and the Guild leaders are exploitative bastards who wring others dry so they can sustain Ethèria. The Father's next plan? Binding the Ascendants to his will as their "Blessings" grow out of their control and take over their minds. The "Blessing" meant for Quinlan is the worst curse of all, thanks to his mother's secret past and lineage. If Quinlan can't successfully play double-agent and facilitate the revolt against the Guild leaders, they'll use him to destroy both worlds he has come to know, including the only real friends Quinlan has ever had.

Well, heaven's overrated anyway.

Through thick and thin the Law shall prevail. A new sense of purpose awaits us, children of light, in the land where it all began. The darkness in which we once cowered in fear, now curbed by the might of our endless light. Come, brothers, come, sisters. Let there be peace among the wicked, just as the Law dictates. Peace and certainty is all that you have ever longed for, little angel. A bright, stable future. A roof without holes above thy head. Acknowledgement and recognition of thy existence, feverish dreams of grandeur. Greed born from yearning, treacherous vines of rapacity taint your innocent soul. You seek a future that does not exist. Let thy fingers hold the fragile line between dream and nightmare. Let thy light navigate the path. Shall thee give in and falter, O' land of old, envelop his body in thy unending flame of chaos. Spit out nothing but an empty husk, the remnants of a smile once so bright. Shall thee prevail, O', Great Kazdel, I ask of you, the impossible - take mercy on the innocent. Don't let the radiance dim and don't let the mind turn bleak. Wake, young traveler. Bid thy farewells and burn thy bridges. It's time to say goodbye, curly head. Cross post from AO3. For a shorter and more on-point description, look no further! I had something silly written up before throwing it out in exchange for that wall of text upstairs. It's a little story "about a young, dumb sankta who's been dealt a bad hand at life, looking for his place in all this mess. The pointless search for a better future leads him far, far away from home, to a country forever ravaged by war and misery - Kazdel, the promised land where devils roam free and peace feels out of place." Anyway, it's quite lengthy, but hopefully enjoyable? Slide a comment if you want, I'll give you a tiny kiss on the forehead. Man, do I love comments. (Lastly, to point out, English is not my native language, but I don't think it'll be much of an issue ;3)

Nine years later, now a student in high school in Snowspell Wisconsin, her dad has secretly trained her to blend in and be 'invisible' amongst her peers. That becomes much more difficult for her when she unwittingly begins to develop special abilities in front of everyone in her high school cafeteria, including Alexander, a mysterious new student with a strange tattoo on his ear, a hidden ability to teleport, and a keen interest in the necklace given to her by her mom right before she died. Eira learns that she is being protected from anyone or anything that may do her harm and it's not long before an evil entity with an army of dark souls, (including her mother's) knows exactly who and where she is. With the dark entity's army, the "Achlys" unrelenting in their search and closing in, Eira and Alexander escape into seclusion. Confused, unprepared and hunted by an army of darkness that would just as soon as kill her as capture her, Eira must quickly mature and develop into the Elemental power she was destined to become or she and those she loves may face the same fate that her mother did years ago.

Five Star Reviews for Atlantis Academy: "Omg this book was amazing I couldn't put it down or stop reading. I carried it with me open on my phone while I did everything just to keep reading. I need more of all of this. Epic story, epic content, epic visuals, just epic. LOVE THIS!" "Once I got into this story, I did not stop reading it. This is a beautiful story about a very awkward girl who is riven with so much pain and angst and yet... this makes her who she is and shapes her into the person she will become. The world she finds herself awakened to is magical and yet filled with the all-too-familiar cliques and tribes of the very human people who inhabit it. One word to describe the story: beautiful!" "The story pulls you headlong to the end and leaves you wanting to shout "No! Not yet!" ...If there were 6 stars, I would have given it that." *** Humanity is one secret society away from extinction. The children of Atlantis use magic to keep us safe. If they make it through the Academy. Hi, I'm Lyric. And I'm kind of a mess. ADHD, that's me. I'm a high school drop-out, late everywhere I go, and one screw-up away from being homeless. I'm a loner, and I like it that way. Who needs friends when you have a Redwood forest nearby? Trees never bully me like the kids did at school. Or get drunk and throw things at my head. After my mom died, I figured life couldn't get much worse. I thought it might even get better. Ha. The universe has a great sense of humor. I should've listened to the rumors about evil spirits. About the angry, ancient magical creatures haunting our small Oregon Coast town. But did I? No. That was my first mistake. And it might be my last. 'Cause now I'm in a battle for my life. A whole new world has opened up... a magical world I don't understand. And the blood in my veins says I belong here. But I have to prove myself to save myself. And when have I ever done that?

❅| "Even a vastness can no longer shelter you... or engulf your dream." ⊱⋅ ──────────── ⋅⊰ [UNDER EDITING/REDRAFTING - latest chapter: 7] To a world seemingly shrouded in a cloak of safety and eternal peace, death is an unimaginable concept. Yet for those whose rule of life was mere survival, perhaps that's a different situation. For those who stood in the face of adversity, for those who refused to give in to the castigation of their lives, life has no sweetness to it. Merely the bitter tang of a blood-chilling revenge. To avenge a loved one or perhaps even their own pain, the murderous intent behind their deceitful eyes is unmistakable. For to them, lamenting about the past is a life lost to the cruel hands of fate. What happens when a woman as brilliant as the morning sun provides a haven in one's dreams? What happens when she, despite the agonies life carried, says to abandon everything right here and now and leave? Alcestis did not need to be told twice. Seizing the chance to escape the horrible clutches of her grandparents, she sets out on a journey to find the Elementals - a band of heroes protecting the human realm from those that lied beyond, headed by her parents. She knew of the darkness that festered within her; she knew of the hatred that danced in her heart. More than anything, she knew the extents of how fragmented her soul was. What, perhaps, would unfold when she sets out on her journey, leaving behind the world she knew; leaving behind what hopefulness remained in her battered heart? None would heed her an answer, indeed. None save for the rage that tainted her being.
Blood of the Forgotten Gods by iHackAnims

In the ancient world of Elyndor, magic is more than a tool-it's a curse bestowed by long-forgotten gods. The most powerful magic, known as Tier Magic, ranges from Tier 9 to the dreaded Tier 1, but only those blessed-or cursed-by the ancient gods can wield the more potent levels. Magic of Tier 4 and beyond runs wild in the blood of the chosen, bringing both unimaginable power and the inevitable decay of the soul. For commoners, the very idea of wielding such magic is a death sentence. Those unlucky enough to inherit a drop of this bloodline are ostracized, feared, and hunted. Dantalian-or Dan-is a lowborn servant, scraping out a meager existence doing menial tasks in the great city of Ithos, a crumbling metropolis governed by powerful nobles who hoard both magic and wealth. Dan has no grand ambitions, no dreams of power, and no taste for rebellion. To him, survival is the only priority in a world filled with inequality, war, and whispers of ancient magic returning to the land. But when a series of mysterious events unlock something dormant within him-an ancient power linked to a bloodline long thought extinguished-Dan's life is thrust into chaos. He possesses magic that he neither understands nor controls, magic that others would kill to possess. As he begins to unravel the secrets of his own lineage, Dan is drawn into the machinations of rival kingdoms, sorcerers, and gods who have not truly vanished but have been waiting for someone like him to awaken their ancient designs. As the story begins, Elyndor still stands at a fragile peace, but darkness looms on the horizon. Soon, Dan will be forced to navigate a world where power can corrupt, magic can destroy, and trust is a rare commodity. Will he succumb to the curse in his blood, or will he rise to challenge the gods themselves?
