"Grace is growing up too fast," Grace Bryan Johnson's parents told people. Grace didn't believe them, she couldn't wait to get out of high school. It was her senior year and it was half way over. She had all A's and was eligible for scholarships all around the country. Her life was set for her and she wanted to hurry up and become a poet, not waste any more time in childhood. Until she is told that a teenage boy will be moving in with her family for the rest of the school year, and he's from her school. He also plays the electric guitar, a pointless instrument in Grace's eyes. To her singing and poetry are the only music in life.
Cole Andrew Stevens, on the other hand, was leading a different life, playing a different role. He was passing his classes of course, so he could stay in band class, but only on a C-B average. His future didn't require college. It didn't require a great education. It just required the raw talent he had with his guitar and his band, Loveless Night. But they don't have a lead singer, and it's his job to find one or he could lose his position in the band. Even worse, his parents are going to Africa for the rest of the year and he's moving in with his parent's old friends and their teenage daughter who absolutely despises rock and roll and partying.
