A simple military excursion; a run of the mill expedition ensuring no Fjerdan bandits had infiltrated the woods bordering Ravka.

The group are ambushed, it's a slaughter. Suddenly, the tides are turned. Inexplicably, a sound echoes through the woods - similar to a cannon blast. Shadows spread through the vicinity, ironically, at the speed of light.

Friend and foe alike are sliced in half. The source of this power? A girl.

Frightened and alone, she is taken to the Little Palace for questioning. What will the Darkling make of this mystery? Will he embrace her as an equal, or will he see her as a threat?

~

This is a story about a girl possessing the very same abilities as the Shadow Summoner. The story begins before the events of Shadow and Bone, and will continue on through the main story.

The main oc will remain ambiguous aside from her dark hair and grey eyes. She does not have a set skin colour, height, build etc. This is to ensure readers can self-insert if they so wish.

I do not own the Grishaverse and any characters/plots within it, I only own my ocs and any original plot. This is simply a fanfiction written due to a love for the series.

My Name Is Adela Kirigan (A Shadow and Bone Season 1 Fanfiction) by WinterPhoenix123
40 parts Complete
We'd been waiting for the Sun Summoner our whole lives. We were told stories about that person that would destroy the swathe of blackness known as the Shadow Fold, the place called the Unsea, the place that divided all of Ravka. My twin brother, Aleksander Kirigan, known as General Kirigan to the Second Army of Grisha soldiers and the court of the Little Palace, as well as to all of Ravka, works tirelessly to maintain order in our corner of Ravka, lead the Second Grisha soldiers and find the Sun Summoner in order to destroy the Shadow Fold. Our father died when we were young, and our mother is well - cranky. Our mother, Baghra, lives in a little hut not too far from the Little Palace. She hates the door being left open to her hut because it steals the heat, and for some reason has a problem with my brother. She adores me, in her own special cranky way. I was born to be a princess, not a military leader like my brother. Marry well, do and say all the right things, I was told, and perhaps I could even rise to the throne of Ravka, perhaps alongside one of the King's sons as my husband. I had everything, but I didn't like my life. I wanted to be free, like my brother. The queen's attendant, Genya, called me a 'wild child.' She still does. I train regularly with the Grisha in the Second Army at the Little Palace, but I've rarely ever left the Little Palace. But when a girl named Alina Starkov arrived at the Little Palace, courtesy of my brother, everything began to change. Aleksander thought she was the Sun Summoner, the one to heal all of Ravka. And as time changed, a sinister plan began to take hold of the Little Palace, as well as all of the Grisha and the rest of the court. And Alina was getting caught in the middle of it. But so was I. I'm Adela Kirigan - but the legacy of my name, and what was taking hold, would soon become a great danger to all of Ravka.

Nathalya was born and trained from an early childhood as a tidemaker. However, unfortunate events made her push down this power that she possesed, leaving her with two oppurtunities-fall ill, or get over her fear and continue summoning tides. She chose a third option: with a heart willing to bring honor to the order of the grisha and to the tradition of her family being grisha for generations, she decides to teach herself a new grisha power-one that wouldn't destroy, but mend. As her hear fear of water grows stronger, learning how to heal becomes a useful and much more goodwilling skill. Only in the spectacular events that await her she will find out that it's not just the cells of her own skin that she can cure. Refused by her former Etherealki friends, condamned by Baghra for disrespect of the Grisha nature and despised by the King, she finds favour of the Darkling who is passionately curious about her powers. The Civil war soon comes to take place, Nathalya becomes a tool of the Darkling, together with Genya, his personal healer, trying to rid him of the nichevo'ya. They both soon realise how dangerous he is and when Nathaly meets Alina, she and Genya immediately join her army to end the madness of the Black heretic once and for all. Back in the Little Palace after the war, it's hard for her to fit in. After she refuses to join Genya, David and Zoya in the truimvirate because of her unusual powers, her life among the other grisha just isn't what it used to be. Admired by the Corporalki, hated by the Summoners, unknown to the Fabrikators she tries to find a place in the Second Army, while a certain blonde-haired King seems to throw more and more admiring glances at her... Will Nikolai fall for her? Will she be able to use both of her Grisha powers in tandem? What change will the grisha in a double-couloured kefta bring to Ravka and to the long traditioned methods of grisha training?

Every coin has two sides. The same can be said for people. Her name is Wysteria Kirigan. A rare type of Grisha. A shadow summoner. A traumatic past follows her everywhere in the form of the shadows, the shadows she can control, but for how long can she keep them at bay? Repeated abuse will do things to a person, and Wysteria Kirigan is no exception. Battling with the memories of her past whilst trying to keep herself sane presents its difficulties, especially when you have so few good memories to snuff out the overwhelming number of bad ones. But what happens when she meets a few sneaky individuals in Ketterdam of which includes a man who holds the power to either be the best thing for her or the worst? A year after Alina Starkov tears down the Shadow Fold, she is finally able to settle into her peaceful life. There is no more war with Ravka. The Darkling, once her enemy, is now a loyal, protective husband, and a father to their adoptive daughter, Amelia. But all things must end. The Sun Summoner learns that a time of peace can become a time of chaos and upheaval in the blink of an eye. As quickly as one war ends, another can emerge. Alina must protect her country as Queen while making sure that the Darkling doesn't revert to his old villainous self, or else all they have built will come crashing down. This is a sequel to The True Saint, but can be read separately. The world is based off of the Shadow & Bone Netflix series/ books by Leigh Bardugo. Book cover art by: misticarts on tumblr ________ |PREVIEW| ------------- The Darkling raises his hand in a motion I know all too well. Behind him, a monster ten feet tall, made of shadow, forms in a menacing stance, ready to carry out his silent orders. I thought I had seen the last of his nichevo'ya a long time ago when we were on opposing sides of the war. I shake my head. "No. No, what are you doing? Wait!" I send the Cut barrelling at the monster. It dissociates into nothing only for another one to take its place. Again, I send the Cut through the abomination, but it was only a diversion. Another one forms behind me, capturing my arms to prevent me from summoning. It holds me above the ground. I kick and scream, but it covers my mouth with its long, slender arm, the other holding me securely to its chest. My breath is labored as I use all of my strength to fight it. It is futile. The Darkling approaches me, stroking his fingers across my cheek as a way to comfort me. It is hard, however, to comfort someone if you are the cause of the distress. "I will do anything in my power to protect you, my Dear Alina. Anything."
