I've been very depressed and heartbroken so, what better than to create a story out of it? "This is my life" details a protagonist going through her teenage years up until the age of 21. Through love, friendship, grief, and heartbreak, you will get to witness what it's like being a young black girl trying to conquer the world. What I Once Called Love: The Drafts
This is my story, or rather a compilation of stories that spans more than a decade. Each piece is written from a place of truth with the exception of the names mentioned. The book itself will broken into sections, with each representing a different moment of my life that was instrumental in helping me define what love is and what it is not. What is this? Actually I can't still define it accurately, I guess it's a diary, a story, a moral... probably all of them together. Life is a learning process which never stops and this is a piece of mine I'd like to share. Falling in love it's a beautiful motion and awesome when you really find that person, but it doesn't feel so pleasant when you find it thousands of miles away. Here you will see how it all started, how I managed this situation and how I tried to solve this huge trouble in which I got enrolled. The plot, feelings, time, messages... besides names, nothing is invented even the slightest detail is worked thoroughly because I just depict in words what I lived the way I lived it so you can get into my skin. People stopped caring... they gave up, why aren't you?" I fought my tears. "Because I feel the need to care. Did Leigh hurt you? Did she hit you?" he finally noticed the unusual redness of my cheek. I don't like the way he told me he needed to care for me. I felt like an obligation, a responsibility that he is carrying and carrying leads to getting tired and when people gets tired, they give up. I don't want them to give up on me. But they will, so it's good not to make them care for me in the first place. "I never needed anyone. I stopped needing anyone before, why start now?" I uttered the words again. Why? There is nothing to fight for. No mama. No papa. No sister to love me. No one. So why would I waste my life and the time of others to fix what is already broken - and someone who doesn't want to be fixed? If I may add. Maybe I gave up. No, scratch that.
