Tess lives in a world unlike any other. When a person in Utopia reaches age 17, they go through the 'Exam'. They go to the lab, and are given a serum. It erases any memories they've ever had. It erases the thought of love. Before the exam, they dream of what it's like to be in love. But after the exam, they don't even know what love is. They don't even know the word. It's forbidden. They aren't allowed to live their old life. They are sent to a new family. A new life. A new planet. But not for Tess. The serum doesn't work for her. She only acts like it does, and she is sent to live her new life. She is astounded by the ways of the Athenians. Athenia is a planet 5000 lightyears away from Earth, but it's the same. Only there's no crime. No love. No hatred. No tragedy. No emotion.
