Monster of it's Satellite

It had been a quarter century since Earth was deemed uninhabitable, and a decade more since those who could had abandoned her. She was nothing more than an ashen corpse now, and the ones who had memories from their days upon her had long since pushed their aching miss aside to make room for survival's brutal demands.
To Tony, though, the ship he now stood upon was all he had ever known. Logically, he knew the universe was at his doorstep, but it was hard to believe there was anything more than the winding metal halls of the Tauris when everything beyond was locked behind a glass shield, no different, superficially, to a digital display.
