Jenny is the widow of a childhood friend to Rooster and his closest brothers who is beaten by her current boyfriend.  After she wakes up from being in a coma for two months, she also has another surprise for him.  Her and her late husband had named their son after him!

While she had been in a coma, Rooster and Dixie had taken guardianship of her children and Dixie had fallen in love with them, especially the baby girl, Penny.  It had broken Rooster's heart to see his beloved wife so upset for want of a baby girl so when Kaylee came home and told them about a baby girl that was dumped at the hospital, they jumped on the chance to adopt her.
