“Welcome.” Dumbledore exclaimed, “Welcome to a new and another year at Hogwarts.” The candlelight flickered and reflected off Dumbledores long white hair. Perhaps, Lucille thought, He looked rather like a grandfather.
“I have a few things to say to you all, and as one of them is serious, I believe I would have to announce it before, you are all befuddled by our excellent feast.” Dumbledore’s periwinkle eyes shone behind half moon spectacles.
“After the inspection of the hogwarts train, you should all be aware that dementors, at the Ministry of Magic’s request, will be staying at hogwarts for the school year.”
Lucille shivered, her father had once gone to Azkaban, and had been drained for days, he never admitted it, but you could tell from the way he walked, and the way he spoke that he was exhausted.
“On a happier note, I am pleased to welcome three new people to our ranks this year.” Murmurs shot through the crowded tables, who were these people? Lucille took a deep breath. The butterflies that had been calmly sleeping in her stomach awoke with a vengeance, “First is Professor Lupin, who will be our new defense against the dark arts teacher.” Sparse clapping filled the hall, and a man stood up. He looked a bit raggedy compared to the other professors, and one, with black robes, and even blacker oily hair, was downright glaring at him. The clapping died down quickly and barely lasted a moment.
“Our second new arrival, is Rubeus Hagrid, who will be manning the post of Care of Magical Creatures.” A roar erupted from a table, that made the other clapping seem nonexistent. “Professor Kettleburn decided to retire with his remaining limbs, and he will be missed.”
Dumbledore waited until the hall quieted down, and announced “For our last, and in fact our newest arrival, I am pleased to welcome, third year, Lucille Malfoy, who will be transferring from beauxbatons.” A stunned silence filled the hall.
