The Ayre sisters - the latest in a long line of deadly female mercenaries - are starting fresh in the city of Mercy and going down the straight and narrow. They're registered with the Mercenaries, have made nice with the Beast Clan, keep a good working relationship with the Dracyans - the ruling vampire clan, and have declared themselves legal residents with the Paranormal Legislative Council. There's a lot of adjusting, a lot of pride swallowing, and in Noraliya Ayre's case, a lot of dealings with an immortal, pig-headed and irritatingly possessive Seer. But they're willing to overlook these minor issues for the roof over their heads, a reasonably stable income, and easily accessible good coffee. After all, there isn't anything an Ayre cannot overcome or kill if they put their minds to it.
