In the year 2500, the world is at war. Rage and vengeance is at every corner, and humanity is at risk. The government decides to create a system to prevent any more battles on the way.
They call it the Numbers system.
418 years later, a group of young adults are to be presented with their Numbers, all at the age of 18.
On January 1st 2918, George Canter and his best friend Blake Meine are to begin their adult lives by finding out their Numbers that day. They are anticipating their new life. Everything will go back to normal tomorrow, and the future for them will hold pleasure and happiness.
Or so they thought.
When their futures take a deadly turn and they both receive Numbers they didn't expect, everything is not what it seems.
The government is out to get them and they are out to get each other.

This means to fight against giant beasts from faultlines, that have strange connections to rifts. There is a band of people quite successful with it and one in particular is celebrated like a popstar: Hades, (self-declared) God of the Underworld, trying to survive a world where the only worth a person like him is how much money he generates for the large companies called "guilds".
