I stared at her in shock. "How-?" I couldn't bring myself to finish. This couldn't be real. I had to be dreaming. Because this was impossible. /*\*/*\ Victor Olin is a loner. He lives alone, eats alone, and certainly sleeps alone. Why bother spending time with others when he can never fall in love? In a world where his entire family, his 2 sisters and his brother, have managed to find their soulmates, he has no one. Victor is a Seer. And the high powered form of the gift that makes him one happens only because, -as a newsoul- he is incomplete. He has no soul mate. And though he has never told anyone, he is desperately lonely. As a Warrior of the Kovoi, a fierce fighter, and as his mother's son, he is feared by many across the United Territories. Because he was gifted with Sight, a gift that allows one to see past, present, and future and will ultimately drive him mad, even other knights avoid him. Raised by his oldest sister since his parents deaths, just after he turned 9, he has no one with the Sight to guide him but his uncle, whose gift has already maddened him. But when he is called down to the Order's prison cells to confront a problem the Council thinks only he can solve, he finds a woman brainwashed and trained to kill by a merciless adversary who had been dead for almost fifteen years: Narrissa Yew, a general in the former Solen Army, who had, at one point, turned his mother into her trained and deadly assassin. But Victor feels drawn to this strange woman, and not just because of her shared past with his long dead mother. Who is she? Why is she here? Where did she come from? And what will Victor do when he finds out that the simple truths he's believed all his life might have been lies the whole time? Follow Victor's story as, through many confusing twists and turns, betrayals, lies, and truths, he finds that nothing is impossible. This's a short story from a series I've been writing called The Kovoi Chronicles, & is my original idea.
