Book Two of The Rogue Princess Trilogy
"The only thing that could tear down the house of the dragon was itself."
Long ago, the Old King Jaehaerys I Targaryen held a council where all of the great lords of the Seven Kingdoms were summoned. There, they would choose which one will inherit the Iron Throne: the Princess Rhaenys, daughter of Prince Aemon and Lady Jocelyn Baratheon, or Prince Viserys, son of Prince Baelon and his sister-wife, Princess Alyssa. Through a vote the realm decided Viserys would be named Prince of Dragonstone. No woman would sit on the Iron Throne.
Yet, the now King Viserys I Targaryen appointed his daughter, Rhaenyra Targaryen as his heir. The Seven Kingdoms had already rejected a woman, they would do it again. When the King remarried, his wife gave him a son, his council advised him to name him heir but he never did. The King didn't know then he would lead his realm to a war remembered as the Dance of Dragons.
