If the meaning of life is to suffer, then we are nothing more then charred fables.
The tolling of the warning bells reverberated through every street, alerting the city.
Jael waved the air to dismiss the alarm and closed her eyes tighter and grabbed at the blankets. But there were none. She rolled on her back, landing on hard, wet stone that soaked her bare skin.
She opened her eyes. Above her was a darkening sky alongside old buildings.
Jael sat up. The tolling bells were ceaseless, along with distant shouts and torchlight littering the street ahead of her.
She was in an alleyway.
Jael looked down at herself.
She was draped in a dress worth enough to feed her family... perhaps before it was stained head to toe in blood.
This tale followers Jael, Atlas, Tomoe, and Abraxas whose lives are complicated and entwined.
