Lilac has a reputation for being dainty and sweet. Rumor is, not a single tear came out of her eyes when she was born up to now. Always having a smile stretch across her face, she was nicknamed Sunshine. Known to be the happiest person on earth, her secret is kept in the depths of her head.
In reality, she has an abusive father and a mother who had abandoned her to get away from him. The day her mother left, her father became even more abusive and he craves attention from woman on the streets, bringing them home every night after he has gotten wasted on bottles of alcohol. She has cried plenty, but she promised herself to never show her tears in front of anyone. But in comes Carson who found her crying in an abandoned bathroom stall who quickly realizes how broken she really is.
Now he's curious and he wants to know despite being the most popular guy with girls nodding at his every request. He is only interested in the secretly depressed Sunshine and her close-to-suicide attempt.

Hope has always expected the worst when it comes to people. Although who could blame her? Since she was about the age of five Hope and her brother Gavin have been in foster care. They never knew their father. Before they were born he had left their mother to be a teen mom on her own. As for their mother to them, she was the most wonderful and caring person they knew. To everyone else she was A depressed mother that had spent more time on drugs than off of them. She cared about her kids she really did, she just didn't know how to handle them.
