After a long battle against justice, Evan Buckley, mostly known as Buck is finally back at house 118. Injured in duty, his main purpose always was to take back his job on behalf his captain, persuaded he wasn't ready yet. When pursuing the city and his friends in justice, Buck lost the trust and faith of his colleagues and his return maybe won't be what he expected. After all he've been through, the eyes of his best friend could be the most difficult thing to survive. And sadly the year promises to be particularly tough and he might well need the support of his friends. His family. And specially Eddie's. Kaitlyn "Kate" Buckley is Buck's twin sister. She was left with her parents when Maddie and Buck left to move and decided with their lives. After 22 years, Kate decides to move on from her shitty life in Pennsylvania, far away from her parents and her crazy and toxic ex-boyfriend, Aaron, to go live with her brother in LA and become a firefighter/paramedic like him. She gets along with the 118 family very well. Bobby and Athena became her figure parents and Hen and Chimney became her best friends. After 5 years of working with her amazing team, there's this new guy who changed Kate's life.

Buck wanted to go home. He wanted nothing more than to be back with his family and to go home. Things had been rough this last year though, first his leg got crushed, he had a pulmonary embolism, he was told he couldn't come back to work, and then there was a tsunami. Even with now being allowed back at work after making the mistake of filing a lawsuit, things were still a bit strained. His family and home still felt like they were an arm's length out of reach. Then, things get even worse somehow when he and the rest of the team get sent to see Dr. Wells after a particularly rough call.

Still at age 9, Buck realizes he's getting even less and less attention from his parents causing him to increase his reckless ideas from skateboarding accidents to playing with fires. He's craving any type of attention from his parents even negative. Bobby Nash firefighter Captain of the 118 lost his family in a fire. His firehouse gets a call of a reported house fire and the only person saved is a small kid named Evan Buckley. Without any family willing to take him, and the police unable to locate his sister, Bobby gets clearance to give the child a roof over his head. He was drawn to the boy, and he knows he can take good care of him.

While at work, he meets new coworker Eddie Diaz and is immediately attracted to him, causing Buckley too act jealous and cold towards Eddie. Eddie however, takes a liking to Evan and wants to become friends, and eventually even more. only issue is, neither of them want anyone to know about their little 'secret', so the question is, how long can they keep it a secret for?
