Soren: We were the McCallister boys: Kei, Landon, Soren, and Devin. The four of us who had been childhood friends since we could walk, the four of us who had attended the same school since day care, and the four of us who had lived on McCallister Avenue since the beginning of time. There were us four boys, but also one more essential person who was a part of our group. Her name was Lucie. Lucie Hayden. Devin: Lucie was more athletic and mischievous than my twin Soren and me. She was tougher and wittier than Landon who was the biggest smart ass you ever met. She was even smarter than Kei who was always the smartest in his class (well second smartest compared to Lucie). Lucie was the combination of all four of us and bested us in nearly every aspect. She could be dirtier than us, eat more than us, sleep longer than us. Hell, her chest was flatter than us too. Landon: To say she wasn't a McCallister Boy simply because she was a girl was considered blasphemy. Hell, I didn't even know what "blasphemy" meant until she explained the meaning to me. Lucie kept everyone in line. She made sure that our arguments and fights always resolved no matter how obnoxious the twins were and how right I was. You could call her our center, our pivot to our decisions, our balance. But when our center suddenly left us, our group, too, disbanded. Kei: She was gone for two years. In those two entire years a lot could have changed about Lucie, especially since we hadn't seen her since freshman year. But now she's back- the girl who everyone loved, the girl who completed our group, and the girl who was one of us. Lucie, whether she's changed drastically or not, will always be one of the boys-a McCallister boy.
