Harlow rose was a child who lost everything at the hands of the monsters around her long before the world fell. She was a girl cast aside and locked away for pleading guilty to a crime she felt no shame about committing. "Never be ashamed" her sister had once told her and the words rang true even when the one who first spoke them was gone, lost to a world that never wanted her. When the dead started walking people called them monsters but Harlow knew better and in time, the survivors would as well. the dead were nothing but a a shell of the creature that came before, But the people, they were alive and the true monsters lurked among them. the vile beings who were previously forced to dwell in the shadows and deal in the dark had inherited the world transforming it into a playground of violence and deceit. Harlow believed her life was condemned to end before it had truly began and she had accepted her grim fate of rotting away behind bars and walls until she reunited with her sister. It would be a long time before she realised just how wrong she was. Carl grimes didn't know what to think when his family stumbled across a lone inmate in the prison his family was to seek refuge in. He knew the stranger was a criminal and he knew that criminals where dangerous but he struggled to correlate the unassuming girl dressed in a ill-fitting jumpsuit with the image of prisoners he had painted in his head. This is a story about found family, the evil that wears the face of innocence, mental illness and recovery. It is a story about being pushed to the brink of insanity and the journey one must take to come back from it. it is a story of getting hurt and healing, it's a tale of love, acceptance, freedom and humanity. It's the story of a dancing flame, a blazing sun and the birds that came before them. WARNING: dark contents can be read without with no understanding of TWD AUTISTIC MAIN CHARACTER! "Because I needed to put them out of their misery," you respond. His intense, bright, blue eyes. His sleek, long, brown hair. His smile that's hard to hate. You just can't get enough. When it started, you were independent, only Flare was there to accompany you. However, just like that, you join a group. Rick and his gang. It wasn't expected, but you can't leave. You couldn't leave. Carl is your bodyguard. He's been ordered to keep an eye on you. Ever. Since. Day. One. ... It all happened when you were raiding an abandoned, old shed. That's where you crossed paths with none other than Carl Grimes. His distinct features remain engraved into your brain and despite thinking that love makes one grow weak; you begin to develop feelings for him. Regardless of what others may think, you continue to pursue him. However, when the group encounters various challenges that test loyalty, trust and courage, you wonder if it's actually meant to be. ... "Carl," he stops and looks at you. "Get away from her." "Why?" Carl simply asks. "Come here," Rick tells him. Carl looks over at you, then Rick. He shakes his head no. "I didn't ask you, I'm telling you." Rick grits his teeth. Carl reluctantly obeys. You watch him as he leaves eyes never loosing contact with his. Rick shuts the door cautiously. As soon as you hear it shut, you stroll over to the door and press your ear against the thin wood. You could hear Rick's faint voice. "Carl. Keep watch over her," he whispers. "She's dangerous." "What do you mean? She's a kid. Just like me. What makes her any different?" Carl defends you. Your heart begins to thud. He's protecting you. Just like what any and every body guard should do. ... A touching fanfiction decorated with intricate detail, heart-racing action scenes and a painful yet deliciously sweet storyline. The only advice I give to you before reading is to prepare yourself both mentally and emotionally. For yours to read and cherish.
