A famine has struck all four of the clans in the forest, affecting not only them but also rogues and loners. Eiderclaw's sister has recently had kits, and he needs to find prey for them and himself. But the clans are suffering enough, so he can't take prey from them. And he refuses to ask twolegs for food. Food seems impossible to find, until one day, Eiderclaw stumbles across the dead body of a kittypet on the side of the thunderpath.
