EVERY SUMMER, four families make their yearly exodus to the British seaside town of Briarville. For Livia Wong, the trip had been tradition ever since she could remember. Summer was always spent alongside the pristine beaches with the dreamy-hued sunsets. The trip is awaited with anticipation, not fear.

Until this year.

Livia didn't leave Briarville last year on good terms. It wasn't all her fault, of course not, but she was partially to blame. Being no longer on talking terms with your two closest friends is one thing. Having them as your neighbours for the entire rest of the summer, while your parents and other friends have no idea something is wrong?

The plan was simple: Livia was eighteen, about to head to university. If she made it through this summer, she could leave Briarville in the distant past and never have to think about it again.

But it was going to be okay. She might not be on talking terms with the Calvert-Egerton twins anymore, and she might have always been on horrible terms with Sarah Hepburn, but she still had Brie and Lila. And her little sister, Pamela.

Still, eighteen years of friendship was never something that would simply go down the drain. Livia had some work to do if she wanted to make it out this summer unscathed. Her heart had been broken once, she was not going to let it happen again.

Twenty-two year old Kat Benson tried to forget that two days ago her boyfriend dumped her. He was supposed to go with her to their friend's beach house. At least she had her BFF Pat Reynolds, and since her boyfriend wasn't going Pat invited one of his old High School friends, Anna O'Malley to join them. Unfortunately, Kat's room is the only one left, but she offers to share. When the group decides to take part in a beach volleyball summer tournament, Kat comes face to face with the one person she was trying to forget. her ex, Oliver Green. He had clearly moved on already, actually he had moved on months ago, when they were still together. Anna catches the whole thing and wants to help. Only, her version of helping was to plant a kiss on Kat's lips. It ignited something inside Oliver because the guy was clearly jealous. Anna offers to continue the act and make Oliver see what he's missing out on. When she discovers that not only is Oliver part of the volleyball team, but that his group of friends rented the same house next to theirs, she realizes she has to step up her game with Anna. Only- was it ever really a game to begin with? *The Summer Storm is a short story that was written for an anthology that never happened. COMPLETED✅ Two high school teenagers finding themselves, analyzing this ever changing world, and building love. This is the type of love you wish you found in high school but probably know way too well that it only exists as fiction. Today I'm turning my fiction to reality. ❣️•••❣️ Excerpt: Just as I was about to seek shelter under some building's roof, the tires of a car come to a halt, I wonder who might pity the lonely girl walking in the rain. The passenger window rolls down, and I spot the most unexpected person seated behind the wheel. "Get in" comes out his voice, and I must've stood there agape for a few moments because next comes his rhetorical question. "Are you getting in or continuing walking in the rain?" Eyebrows raised expectantly. He sounds annoyed, like he regrets his decision to ever stop and help me. ❣️•••❣️ #5 in cynical #2 in loveandfriendship #1 in opinionated #4 in ihatelife #10 in nerdgirl #10 in HighschoolRomance #26 in GoodGirlBadBoy *contains mature themes. *contains cursing.
