Kalu is a yearling filly that has lived with humans her whole life. When they bring the wild herd to the Palian kingdom, she senses something different in a yearling colt that the humans call Ombri. Unlike the others, he hasn't succumbed to the fear and distress that has gripped the other pegasi; he has hope that can lead them towards their destiny.

Rylee is a fourteen year-old girl that has lived in the Palia her whole life. When a group of hunters bring back a herd of wild pegasi, she knows that they have shattered the fragile peace between the kingdoms of Albria and the Other, a foreign continent that keeps the balance between the humans of Jor and Palia.
