Amalia Runa was a witch.
A fire witch.
She was part of the Runa-Coven, her parents one of the few elemental witches that still existed. They were almost royalty among their kind. But while all elements were important, fire witches were seen as the incarnation of destruction and chaos. They were feared.
After one dreadful day, where Amalia lost control she found the Mikaelsons (while they all were humans) and with them she found the place where she belonged.
Especially with Kol. He got obsessed the moment he saw her and it only intensified over time.
(I may have planned to use historical events in the story that happend long before the Mikaelsons or Amalia lived.)
