At its center stood a man no, a beast his broad frame wrapped in the weight of sins he could never atone for. His crimson eyes, filled with torment, bore into the delicate figure before him.
She was fragile, like glass on the verge of shattering. Her silk saree clung to her trembling frame, the once-vibrant colors now muted beneath the weight of sorrow. She had loved him once, before his hands were stained with the blood of her people.
"You should have never come back," he rasped, his voice hoarse with restrained agony.
She lifted her gaze, tears pooling in her wide, sorrowful eyes. "I had no choice... You still hold my heart, even if you wish to break it."
A bitter chuckle escaped his lips. "Your heart?" He took a step closer, his fingers twitching as if fighting the urge to touch her. "I am no longer the man you loved, Princess. I am nothing but a beast now one cursed to destroy everything he once held dear."
Her lips quivered. "Then let me be the one thing you do not destroy."
His chest tightened. The world had already stolen too much from him-his peace, his kingdom, his very soul. And now, she stood before him, offering him something he did not deserve.
He reached out, rough fingers brushing against her soft cheek, but then he hesitated. If he held on, he would ruin her. If he let go, he would ruin himself.
"You don't understand," he whispered, his voice breaking. "I was born to be a monster. And monsters do not get to love princesses."
A tear slid down her cheek, and she placed her hand over his, her warmth searing into his cold skin.
"Then let this monster love me, even if it destroys me."
His eyes shut tight, a silent war raging within him. But deep down, he knew-she was already doomed the moment she stepped back into his arms.
And yet, neither of them could let go.
