Earth has become a paradise. The global economy is strong, the various governments of the world peacefully cooperate with each other, and there hasn't been any kind of war in the last 75 years. Poverty is virtually non-existent, famine is a thing of the past, and advancements in technology have improved the lives of everyday people.
The only problem is that in order to achieve this, humanity has virtually destroyed the "natural" world. They have spread their cities nearly everywhere, caging and controlling nature so that they may claim the land for themselves. Animals are either pets, livestock, or prisoners in zoos. Plants are either decorative or agricultural, or they are limited to a handful of botanical gardens.
Humanity has figured out how to treat each other right, but they have no sense of how they should treat the other living species on their planet. They need to change for the good of all living beings, but they see no reason to do so.
And so, a group referring to itself only as "the Scientists" have devised a plan. Hidden underground in the last desert on Earth, they develop technology like nothing ever seen before. Their plan is to use their inventions to wage war with the world above. They want to restart humanity from scratch... and that means wiping away every last trace of the people that have come before them.
Will their plan for global genocide work? Can they actually build a better world, or are they doomed to the same destiny as the civilizations they seek to destroy?

The Abyss of Time
Twenty years after the end of the Cyborg War, the last cyborgs try to hijack a starship on its way to terraform an alien world. They want the new colony to be a cyborg colony in which they will rebuild their strength and practice their way of life. During the fighting, though, the starship is damaged, so that instead of travelling light years across space it ends up a billion years in the future, alongside a planet Earth that is near the end of its life. The ice deep in the north has melted to reveal a new world hidden under the ice. It holds vegetation and animals that seem unworldly when compared to ours, but hidden in the deepest part of this world is another cave with the oldest surviving strains of an ancient bacteria capable of taking host of dead creatures and reanimating them into beasts worse than before. This strain had grown weak over the ages and was nearly extinct, but the human immune system, never being exposed to this, caused the strain to thrive inside its new unexpecting host and spreads out to the world. It starts small, just a speck on the hands of a few people, but soon, it spreads to door handles, pens, books, chairs, things like that. It continues spreading and now has infected its first corpse, the remains of an ant. This new creature comes and spreads to that ant's nest and then to the animals that eat them. Before less than a month passed, the virus had spread to a graveyard in the hidden grottos of the Yukon. This virus, now able to think from the new minds of fresh bodies, can strategize. In only another week, the epidemic had spread to the northern edge of the United States. Spreading further and further in, people began to notice this strange happening. From people disappearing to entire towns popping out of existence, the bacteria continued to spread. To keep order, the governments had those who disappeared erased from existence, but it wasn't enough. The takeover of those long gone happened in less than three weeks and society collapsed. It was very calm, and how their government worked, was there was their leader, their ruler, their king, along with a bunch of advisors who sat on the council, as they all tried to figure out how to combat the rising emissions. They had all agreed that living on a sustainable earth was plausible, but knew that the fight was far from over. But, the fight had to be over soon, because if they did not stop it very soon, they'd be on brink of no return. Of getting up from their place they'd been calling home for 3.4 eons, and finally colonizing another planet. But, they could not, because they knew it would still take them months, and months to get all the supplies, and even then, the supplies wouldn't be enough to host everyone on earth.
