Noah is a hard-working writer for a top-selling magazine in New York City who is one flop away from being fired. He fears he's reaching the crash of his career when he stumbles across an idea for an article that might change the direction of his path.

Abby Drewman's life has been turned upside down since her father's passing. Her father was an artist who had one hit piece in his career. Despite his success, he was most famous for one thing in his small town: being Abby's dad and a small-town hero.

Noah is in search of the truth behind the mystery artist and his art, and Abby is in search of a way to navigate life after the passing of her only blood-family. Due to their roots and different sets of priorities, the two are unlikely friends. But with Noah's persistence and Abby's desperation to move on, the two find they may have more in common than they think.

"You're shaking. So, how can you say I have no effect on you?" *** Brought up in a life of crime by his Father, 28-year-old Noah Rite dominates the streets of New York as a legendary man who demands control and doesn't settle for failure. Known to all as "The Grim Reaper", and unforgivingly brutal to his enemies, his only savior comes by Bobbi Potter, his best friend and secret captor of his heart and soul whom he'd die to protect. For 26-year-old Bobbi, as someone who's lived in a tough and abandoned world of her own, running into Noah was nothing short of kismet. Trusting her life to the man she's known for nearly 20 years, Bobbi's been by his side through the gates of Hell and back without question. And even when she fell for another named Elijah, the love and admiration for each other never seized. As time passed, Noah finally finds himself ready to leave the world of blood and fear behind for a better life as a boring mechanic, however, after an unexpected discovery reveals the ugly truth about Bobbi's fiancé, Noah's unhinged intentions result in more harm than healing and only a lie can pick up the shattered pieces - Catapulting him back into the everlasting throes of chaos for an unforeseen time. One year later, and with Bobbi deep in Noah's domain of infamy, the chance to escape the struggles of a deadly future reveals itself once more when demons and other closeted skeletons resurface and begin to manifest in unpredictable ways. And like a vicious cycle, their friendship will be forced to withstand the disarray of backstabbing past mistakes while exploring the depths of their soulful bond. But with Noah blinded by his festering desires, only carnage and bloodshed will follow his refusal to let them crumble. All in the name of love? So be it. © 2019-2025 Maxine Scythe

"Is being ridiculously tall a requirement for dairy farmers?" I blurt out. "Not exactly," Noah says, looking me over. I feel a bit self-conscious under his intense gaze. "Is it a habit for kitchen princesses to spray milk in their own face?" "Definitely not," I reply quickly. "And I'm not a kitchen princess." *** Finn Cooper thought he had his life perfectly planned-a loving boyfriend, a promising career in hospitality management, and the dream of becoming a chef just within reach. But when his estranged father dies, Finn is forced to return to Forestville, the small, conservative village he left behind years ago. Faced with the crumbling remains of his father's farm, Finn discovers he's not the only heir. Noah Moreno-the infuriatingly smug, yet maddeningly attractive owner of a local dairy empire-has a claim to the property too. With nowhere else to stay, Finn is reluctantly taken in by the Moreno family. Forced to work alongside Noah to prepare the farm for sale, their constant bickering ignites a fiery tension Finn can't ignore-and one that might not just be anger. As Finn uncovers long-buried secrets about his father and battles the unexpected chemistry with Noah, he must confront his past, navigate his heart, and decide if his future lies in the chaos of Forestville-or somewhere he never imagined. A heartwarming, slow-burn romance packed with culinary dreams, tangled emotions, and the beauty of finding yourself where you least expect it. Perfect for fans of Red, White & Royal Blue and The Hating Game.
