----------~~~~~~~~~~~~----------- "I've never been loved genuinely before, okay? So I'm really fucking sorry if I don't give you what you need." He took my face in his hand, cupping my jaw. He wiped my tear stained face with his thumb and gave me this longing look. "I know what that feels like. Looks like we both need a second chance at love." he said as the tears built up in his eyes finally escaped. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aven Haggerty, a troubled teenage girl. In high school, she had the perfect reputation. She had many friends. But were they fake? She had amazing grades. But only so the abuse didn't get out of hand. Everyone respected her and knew where she stood. She was the type of girl where guys worshiped the ground she walked on. She was a badass, respected, popular "bitch". The perfect girl. But was she really? No one truly knew her. Not even herself. She would dream at night that her prince charming would come to save her from this nightmare of a life. But that was only interrupted but harsh slaps to her face. ------------------------------- Colton Hartley, your basic popular boy. All the girls were all over him and swore he gave them the best fuck of their lives. He'd never touch any of them in reality. He had the perfect reputation. Sounds familiar right? He had decent grades. But only so his dad could stop running his dirty, drunken mouth. He was friends with everyone in the school. But he was never honest with them, no matter what. He wanted to be honest but he knew none of them would understand. He suffered silently at night, just wishing someone would take him away from the broken glass and whiskey spills. Yet that was only interrupted by hard punches and black eyes. --------------------------------- Broken hearts and bruised ribs, they both suffered but no one knew. Not even them. Not yet, at least.

"I want to help you." His bright eyes sparkle in the moonlight. "You can't help me! You hurt me!" By now, the tears I had been desperately trying to hold back finally slip out. "They hurt you!" As he yells, the anger in his voice eases out; his eyes are filled with familiar sadness. "I have nowhere else to go." I shoot back, taking a step away from him, afraid he will strike me as everyone else does. As soon as he notices this, his eyes widen, and his fists relax. "Come with me." He responds, hope gleaming in his eyes. I look up at the bright moon shining down on us as the breeze ruffles my hair. "Come with you?" I question. Just as he nods my dizziness takes over, sending me to the ground. His hands wrap around me, barely catching me. "Don't let them hurt me." I whisper, looking into his eyes, trying to not let the spinning world take me. "They won't hurt you anymore. Ever." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tivelly always seemed like the popular girl, always filling the room with her laughs and bright smiles. No one had noticed the excess of makeup that would occasionally be used to hide the bruises. The words "I love you" being foreign to her.
