In this world, monsters called Eldritch wander around hunting humans for their flesh and negative emotions. To fight these beasts, humans with supernatural powers are gathered by an organization called the Division of Eldritch Affairs (DEA--pronounced dee-yah) and trained to be Slayers. However, an uncanny phenomenon called the Turning causes Eldritch to become human after consuming human flesh.
~~~~~
Cody Byrd is about to begin his first year at DEA Academy. There, he will train to become a Slayer and learn the discipline and skills required to fight against the Eldritch. However, Cody harbors a big secret: he is an Eldritch who turned into a human. In the past year, Cody had struck a deal with five Slayers from DEA to help them find the cause of the Turning in exchange for keeping his true identity a secret.
READERS MUST BE 17+* *CANNOT be read without reading prior novels in series* Asher Pryce hides behind a wall of secrets he's spent most of his life building up. How else is the adopted child whose birth parents run a drug cartel supposed to fit in? He's notorious for his overconfident swagger and total lack of patience for bullshit - a master of masks. The one thing in his life he can't fake? His feelings for his best friend's twin sister. When she returns back home after eight years of living in another city, Asher is ready to take their lifelong friendship to another level. Of course, life has rarely worked in his favour. Between the letters his birth parents keep sending him, a run-in with an old enemy that's out for his blood, and his responsibility to protect his adoptive parents from his fucked up birth family, he would only be putting the woman he loves in danger. He may make his living as a fighter but this is one fight he's destined to lose. Right? Aria Hunter has gotten pretty good at faking it until you make it. After getting through an abusive relationship and fleeing to another city Aria is ready to return home years later. Everything has changed, including her relationship with her best friend. There's a constant magnetic pull between them and Aria feels their intense chemistry with every touch and look Asher steals from her. Gone is the once scrawny and irritable ten-year-old boy replaced by a cocky and assertive man that's way too hard to resist. But his looks aren't the only thing that changed about him. When Asher finds himself part of his birth parent's crowd once again, Aria knows this only means trouble. The more she fights to keep him safe, the harder it is to hide how she feels about him. Maybe their feelings for each other just aren't meant to be realized. After all, falling for your best friend is just a cliché. Right? All rights reserved to TheFeveredBookaholic.
In 'Slayer : The Rise' : A Tale of Vengeance and Hope,' we are transported to the grand kingdom of Eldoria, where a gifted and noble young warrior named Alex is celebrated as the kingdom's hero. However, tragedy strikes when a malevolent force known as the Voidspawn emerges, plunging Eldoria into darkness and despair. Overwhelmed by grief and anger, Alex makes a fateful decision-to seek revenge against the gods he once revered for their perceived inaction during the kingdom's devastation. The story unfolds across nine chapters, each rich in detail and emotion. Alex's quest for vengeance leads him to a forbidden ritual that grants him unimaginable power but at a great cost. As he hunts down the gods, he encounters individuals like Lyria, who have also suffered but cling to hope and redemption. Together, they journey through the shattered remnants of Eldoria, confronting moral dilemmas and the complexity of good and evil. They are joined by allies like Kael, who believes the gods can be held accountable, and face adversaries in the form of the Faithful, who still cling to their belief in the gods' benevolence. Their confrontations with the gods themselves reveal their fallibility and inner conflicts. As the group seeks answers from the enigmatic Oracle of Eldoria, they learn that the gods are not beyond redemption, setting the stage for a climactic battle against the Voidspawn. The final chapter sees them united in purpose, as Alex, with the guidance of the gods, makes the ultimate sacrifice to save Eldoria. The Epilogue paints a picture of a healing kingdom, transformed by the redemption of its gods, and a hero who, once driven by vengeance, becomes a symbol of hope and selflessness. 'Slayer : The Rise' is a tale of epic proportions, exploring themes of vengeance, redemption, and the enduring power of hope.
