Kinslayer

Once upon a time, a young maid was subjected to the unthinkable by the Pharaoh of Egypt she served. Cast out of the palace, disowned by her family, she was left with nothing except the baby in her womb - the Pharaoh's son born out of wedlock - and her deadly desire for revenge.
Fifteen years later, that child, now a young man, enters a contest organized by the Pharaoh for all boys and girls with outstanding magic and combat skill, created to choose the apprentices of the current Sacred Court and the inheritors of the seven mystical Millennium Items, magical objects of unimaginable power. His goal: to hide in plain sight as a participant, ingratiate himself to the court, and gain their trust, before killing the Pharaoh and taking the throne on his mother's behalf. But when met with a court much friendlier than he expected and mystery upon mystery, Kay is forced to choose a path: that his mother paved for him, or one he forged himself.
