"Hair Flip," says Lena.
Each girl flips her hair over her left shoulder, then over her right.
"Shoulders back," says Lila.
Each girl grows a little as they fix they're posture.
"Smiles on," the girls faces all brighten up.
"And strut," Stella starts the girls walking.
~~

All Eliana Harred ever wanted was to be part of the popular crowd "The Stella's" so in her junior year when she's finally accepted she works hard to follow all the rules of the group. But when Eliana finds out there are rules for the summer too, she's worried. How can she host a party when she's in Michigan, not at home in the small town of Atwood, Tennessee. How can she go shopping at every mall within driving distance if she'll be in the middle of nowhere, no malls in sight.

Eliana isn't ready for the summer to come because she knows she'll never fit in if she must leave all summer. But sometimes when you expect the worst, you find something more.

"You shouldn't need to drink to try and drown your feelings Kayla. I've watched the people around me do this all my life and it doesn't fix anything." "I know it won't fix anything, but for right now it helps me forget" "You can't keep running away or hiding. In the end it all catches up." "You sound like you've been through this before." "I guess you could say that." "You want me to open up to you, but are you ever going to open up to me? I want to get to know you Tyler, but you are so closed off. You know why I got knocked over by that wave? Because I was watching you, I was watching your face and seeing how free you felt riding that wave. It's the only time I've ever seen you let go. You know that someone hurt me, but I think you have been hurt too. When you're ready to talk, I'll be waiting. Maybe we can help each other." "Maybe I'm not worth getting to know" he replied. "And maybe I'm not worth you trying to save me either. Or maybe I am" With that I got up and left him to think about what I said. I put my cards on the table, now it was up to him to make the next move. ******** A year ago, Kayla had it all, doting parents and a relationship with her older brother that others envied. By the end of junior year that changed, she's left broken after a series of events in her life, but she is determined to hide her pain from her friends and enjoy the summer. That is until she meets Tyler, who can see right through the hurt. He has his own secrets though and isn't ready to let anyone in. Together they will either fall apart or fall together.

When Leah first hooked up with Landon, she thought it would be a one time thing. Once turned into twice, turned into countless times. Now, she's wondering if it's all been worth it. Has she been wasting her time with someone who will never want anything more? After all, Landon has never been one to settle down with anybody, why would he start now? He's the guy you call for a fun time, not a serious relationship. Leah isn't even sure that word is in his vocabulary. Maybe it's time to break off their whatever-you-call-it and find someone who knows what the word serious means. Landon has always been the "fun-time guy", the one you call if you're looking for a party or a one-night stand. He's never thought twice about that label or what it might mean for his future in the romance department. Hell, he never thought he'd think the word romance until one decision on a fateful summer night proved how quickly things could change. He'd always imagined hooking up with Leah. She was sexy, single, sassy- everything he thought was important in a woman. Landon never actually expected her to say yes when he jokingly suggested they have some fun late one summer night. After that, everything changed. He couldn't get enough of her. The more time they spent together, the more he wanted to be around her, and strange new feelings started to bloom in his chest. Is it love, or something else? And would it be enough to show Leah how he's changed, or would it send her running faster toward the hills? Find out soon in Hot Summer Nights.
