Inspired by the podcast and old radio show "dangerously yours" episode, "masquerade."
It's really good! Recommend listening to it If you haven't.
(This is my first time writing and I'm not very good so please give me lots of feedback if anyone is reading this 😭. The vibes of this show are immaculate and I don't feel like what I have written could ever live up or match that vibe so please give me any advice if you can!)
Also, as the radio show is a short and their are quite a few details missed out in the show. I've made some of it up and it feels slightly janky lmao. If anyone can think of anything better please let me know cuz I suck and I am not a creative gal.😐

Loosely based on the folklore of seductive water sprites, particularly the Vila (a Central European version of Rusalka). Written for @AfterDark's "Mirror, Mirror" contest (Mar 2020) -'Mysterious Ways'. A young woman wakes in the wrong version of her bedroom. Or is it so wrong after all? ('You wake in a strange place, possibly as someone else.') -'The Listeners'. Morial and her fellow Spirit Listeners work hard to maintain the balance between nature and mortals; until, one Summer, Morial is accused of upsetting that balance herself. ("I know what you did last summer". The prompt features as paragraph nine in my story.) -'Between the (Spread)Sheets'. An accountant and a trader play cat-and-mouse in a City firm. (@Crime's 'Deceptive Detective' Aug 2020: one criminal goes undercover to expose or be exposed by another.) -'The Unexpected Message'. A missed phone call proves momentous for a young art historian. Prohibition is the law of the land, but Nellie needs cash - after socking a gangster in the face, she's got ten days to make it right. Frightened and caught empty-handed, Nellie turns bootlegger. She accepts a job from her sly friend Lola to pick up some liquor. It should be a cinch, seeing as how Nellie's dependable mechanic friend Felix volunteers to help drive her car. But an encounter at a speakeasy sends idealistic cop Lester on the chase - and he's not exactly looking for cash. As tensions between Chicago lawmen and gangs grow worse by the day, all the fast talking in the world might not be enough to keep Nellie and her friends out of jail. Or alive. * * * * * * * * * * Felix drums his fingers along the steering wheel. A man exits the other car, dressed to the nines with a fine-looking fedora. A very bad feeling begins to swirl inside my chest. He's certainly no cop. The attendant is hurrying with the pump. Felix has tensed beside me, staring with fascination directly ahead. "Are they watching us?" "The one fella is." Felix presses his lips together. But he knows we can't leave. We need the gas. Felix has a back-up can of it stowed somewhere but that's for emergencies. Is this a real emergency? One of the other fellas hops out. Before the door slams I notice what his still-seated friend is holding. A tommy gun. My skin prickles. Felix pales. We're just playing at bootlegging now. But those folks are the real deal-complete with hired guns to protect their hooch. Felix's hand moves to the starter and I knock it away. The one in the fedora has seen us. He casually makes his way over and I know our story isn't good enough; this guy will notice we snooped even when we didn't mean to and we'll be in some sort of a mess. So I ditch our story. I throw myself at Felix and kiss him as thoroughly as I know how.Complete

Genesis... ...well Genesis is a spy. She has always been a spy. In occupied France, 1944, the Nazis are so close to finding her. She's so close to being burned, but she manages. She manages to just keep their suspicions off of her. But she needn't for long, as the date of her extraction is drawing near. And as she waits, she wonders "who will I have to be next?" This is the story of Genesis, from her very beginning to her very end. _ "And when the shouting started she would not hesitate, for she was a soldier now and to hesitate meant to die." - There is an eventual canon character x OC, but I shan't tell you who because I'm mean. Just some stuff I need to point out, which I will re-iterate in the first part (the welcome and disclaimer) incase you haven't read this far: There is a lot of SWEARING- like a lot, my OC is a potty mouth. Smoking and alcohol feature fairly heavily - SMOKING is not good for your health, but if you do/are going to smoke, please do so responsibly and safely - ALCOHOL is fine as long as it is consumed responsibly, please don't binge drink as it will seriously damage your body. This story contains GRAPHIC VIOLENCE and MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH because, as you know, Band of Brothers is during WORLD WAR 2 and so there was an awful lot of that. Obsession Series 8 People ask me, "Why aren't you one of the Montelust Men?" Simple. I don't need a title to matter. I'm Condrad Santino-the one they call when shit gets real. I fix things. I clean up messes. I disappear problems before they hit the surface. I don't live in the spotlight. I live in the shadows. They toast champagne. I carry silencers. They fall in love. I vanish before anything gets too close. Or at least... I used to. She changed that. The Lady in Red. I met her during a surveillance op at a masquerade ball. I was supposed to watch from above-no contact, no distraction. Then she walked in. Red silk. Black mask. Amber eyes that locked with mine across the room. And just like that-I forgot the mission. We danced once. Brief. Electric. Her touch burned. Her scent lingered. She said nothing real, gave no name. But I didn't need one. She felt like something I hadn't known I was missing.
