It is the early 20th century in 1915. Dante is a 23-year-old half-demon and half-human hybrid who was raised and born in Red Grave City. He is born to a demon knight known as the "Legendary Dark Knight Sparda," who turned against his kind in ancient times and to a human woman named Eva. In this era, he is the proprietor of a shop named "Devil May Cry." He hunts demons or devils as his job daily. One day, a blonde woman named Trish, who looks exactly like his late mother, comes to his office and requests him to go to Japan since there are large numbers of demon activities over there. She also explains that the emperor of all demons, Mundus, is plotting his return with the help of another powerful demon known as Muzan Kibutsuji in Japan.
Dante decides to take the offer. There, he meets a young male, Demon Slayer, named Tanjiro Kamado, who is on a quest of turning his demonized sister, Nezuko Kamado, back into a human. He will also be encountering more Demon Slayers of the Demon Slayer Corps that also hunts and slays demons inhabiting Japan. Watch as the son of Sparda journeys his way throughout Japan with his soon-to-be allies and stops the King of Darkness and the Demon King's scheme.

Even after being reunited with him and being undyingly loved by him, Esme continues to muse about that time period amongst other mysteries. It is during Vergil's unloading, Esme is able to find what grounds her to the moment and solidify her place at his side as the strong, devoted, and loving woman she is. **This story follows Stay in the same universe. It all starts when the flames of the palace burn their brightest and an innocents blood is spilled. PREQUEL to my other story, Devil May Cry: Restitution! This is the first fan fiction I wrote and completed back in 2009. Years after the events of DMC5, Vergil and Dante manage to escape the Underworld and seal it from anything powerful from being able to escape. The Sparda Twins make their way back to the shop, and are reunited with Nero, Trish, and Lady. Vergil sees Nero happy with Kyrie, and realizes he can't get Nero's forgiveness after what he did. So what does he do? He starts over, and finds love again. The katana wielding brother settles down with another woman, and has a second son for himself, one he will spend his time with, Y/N Sparda. However, being the Son of Sparda, there were still Demons that slipped through cracks of the Twin's Seal, and broke into the house, attacking the woman before being killed by Vergil. Heartbroken, he finds his son still alive, and in his mother's arms crying. Vergil vows to never let his son experience weakness like he did.
